Recently, this kind of products have being used widely abroad for the center commercials, hospitals, offices, stations, airports, dwellings and others buildings for connection of fire alarm system, smoke detectors system, emergency lighting and power supply system and public address system.

This new kind of fire resistant and flame retardant cable have remarkable characteristics as below:

1. to compare with the traditional fire resistant and flame retardant cable, the emission of smoke and acid gas is less than the traditional cable, when exposed to fire, particularly, with the water and with the mechanical shock, the cable can still maintain the circuit integrity, i.e. the circuit can operate normally.

2. to compare with the mineral insulating fire cable, the new kind cable have too many advantage as below:

a. because the new kind of fire resistant and flame retardant cable adopt the pairs or twisted core construction, the signal clarity and transmission rates are improved remarkably.

b. With it’s screen structure, the anti-electro-magnetic interference performance is massively improved, particularly, over the frequency range 1--100MHz, attenuation improvement of 30--35db is achieved over unscreened cable.

c. The new kind cable have much lower core to core and core to screen capacitance than other conventional fire resistant cable, the growth of systems allowing longer cable runs makes the new cable ideal for fire alarm circuits where low capacitance is vital.

d. The new cable is pliable, no limit for manufacturing length, diminishing the point of termination of circuit, no requirement of many components and specialized and expensive tools, rising the installation speed and reliability.

3. the new kind of fire resistant and flame retardant cable meet the highest categories of BS6387 “performance requirements for cables required to maintain circuit integrity under fire conditions” i.e. C, W and Z. The symbol C means that under fire condition 950℃ for 3 hours energized at the rated voltage, no puncture occurs. The symbol W means that under fire condition 650℃ for 15 minutes then for 15 minutes with fire and water energized at the rated voltage, no puncture occurs. The symbol Z means that under fire condition 950℃ for 15 minutes with 30 seconds hammer blows energized at the rated voltage, no puncture occurs.

4. the physical characteristic:

a. voltage rating (U0/U):300/500v.

b. operating temperature: -40℃--+90℃(the cable should not be flexed when either the ambient or cable temperature is below 0℃).

c. Minimum bending radius: 6×overall diameter of cable.

5. standards achieved:

a. circuit integrity: passes BS6387 categories C, W and Z. passes IEC331-3hours at 750℃.

b. Smoke and acid gas emission: passes GB/T17650-1998.

c. Smoke density: passes GB/T17651-1998.

The Type and specification

The type of the new kind of fire resistant and flame retardant cable is HJLZ, taking the first letter of four Chinese words: the Huozai (fire-H), Jingbao (fire alarm-J), lianjie (connection-L), and Zuran (flame retardant-Z). The E of the table below means protective Earth conductor (tinned annealed copper), the section is the same with the conductors of insulated phase cores (the class1 or class 2). The cable can also be supplied with steel wire armor protection.
